Limestone — Beautiful but Demanding
Limestone is a naturally soft, porous sedimentary stone. Like marble it is calcite-based, making it vulnerable to acid etching from common household spills — wine, citrus juice, cleaning products and even carbonated water can leave dull, whitish marks. Its porosity also makes it susceptible to staining if unsealed.
Despite these characteristics, limestone remains one of the most desirable flooring materials for its warmth and natural variation. Properly maintained, a limestone floor can look beautiful for decades.
Limestone should never be cleaned with acidic or bleach-based products. We provide a specific maintenance guide following every restoration.
Our Restoration Process
- Deep cleaning to remove built-up soil, old sealant or wax
- Diamond honing to remove scratches, etching and surface damage
- Progressive refinement to the desired finish level
- Polishing where sheen or reflectivity is required
- High-quality penetrating impregnator sealant application
Finishes Available
Honed — smooth, flat, slightly matt. Most practical and popular for limestone floors.
Polished — reflective finish that shows off natural fossil detail.
Brushed / Antique — textured, aged appearance. Most practical for hallways and kitchens.
